Chapters 10, 11, 12 2 Nephi 11-27

Hey, Girls, these are the Isaiah Chapters. We pretty much followed all of the helps in the Institute Manual in class during these chapters. I remember when I used to just sort of skip over these chapters (and I was older than any of you!) because I thought they were beyond understanding, but now I actually love them. It takes carefully reading verse by verse and the minute you don't understand go immediately to the Institute helps...just read them together. My favorite book of helps is "Isaiah Made Easier" by David J. Ridges.....he goes through Isaiah verse by verse explaining how we would say that now in our language.....it is very good and he is also very funny!!

  1. I agree that I find my mind wandering when I would read these chapters. I did love the student manual that helped out, however. One of the most beautiful scriptures I loved was in 2 Nephi 25:13. It said that the Savior has risen for the dead with healing in his wings. It made me think how the Savior heals us in ways other than physically. I also wrote in my margin about a marvelous work that will come forth. It amazed me when I was reading the Joseph Smith papers at how uneducated Joseph Smith was. He couldn't even spell or write well. It was another testimony to me how the Lord uses us as instruments in having His work done. I also marked the quote by Elder Holland. He says how our lives must be lived so that others can see what we believe. We should always reflect our testimony's of Christ by the way we live. Finally, in 2 Nephi 26:15-16 it talks about "those who shall speak out of the ground". The voice of Nephi's people who have slumbered in the dust for centuries are now whispering "out of the dust" through the pages of the Book of Mormon, which Joseph Smith literally took out of the ground. Wonderful!!!
